Federico Fedrigo (1820-1886)

Zapovjednik Austrijskog Lloyda i viceadmiral egipatske ratne mornarice.

Nakon završene Nautičke škole u Venciji, postao jedan od najmlađih zapovjednika na brodovima Lloyd Austria. Zapovijedao je godinama na njihovom najvećem parobrodu “Australia” na liniji Trst – Aleksandrija. U Egiptu je mladi Federico zbog svojih moralnih I intelektualnih kvaliteta ubrzo postao vrlo cijenjen kod najistaknutijih članova društva, pa je imenovan generalnim agentom Austrijskog Lloyda u Egiptu. Zbog nemilog događaja uzrokovanog od jednog zaposlenika, prekinuo je raditi za Lloyd I 1859. godine prihvatio se funkcije direktora Pomorske akademije Egipta, a vojno-pomorska karijera dovela ga je do čina viceadmirala. 1863. prihvaća talijansko državljanstvo . Kasnije je postavljen na vrlo utjecajan položaj upravitelja aleksandrijske luke I pomorskog poštanskog I kedivskog prometa, na toj poziciji proveo je niz godina. Zapovijedao je jednim od prvih brodova koji su prošli kroz novo otvoreni Sueski kanal. Car Franjo Josip dodijelio mu je  jedno od najviših odlikovanja, pored brojnih drugih koje je primio I od Italije I od Egipta. 1884. povukao se sa funkcija u Milano, gdje je uz svoju kćer Margheritu skromno živio do kraja.

Upon graduating Nautcal college in Venice, he became one of the youngest masters on the Austrian Lloyd steamships. Federico commanded the largest company vessels: “Australia”, which kept Triest – Alexandria line. In Egypt, young Federico achieved a prominent position because of his high moral and intellectual qualities and became very respected among the most influential members of the society. Due to all that, he was nominated to a position of general agent of Austrian Lloyd in Egypt. Following unfortunate events caused by one of employees, he resigned and in 1859 accepted position as Director of Naval Academy of Egypt, and his naval career elvated him to a rank of vice-admiral. In 1863 Federico obtained italian citizenship. Later, he was nominated to a very important position as governor the Port of Alexandria and all postal and commercial traffic under khedivial rule, occupying this post for a number of years. One of first vessels transiting newly open Suez Canal was under his command. Tzar Franz Joseph decorated him with one of highest medals, with all other awarded from Italy and Egypt. In 1884 he retired from all his positions, moved to Milan and spent his last years living modestly with his daughter Margherita.
